My main image is a longshot because I wanted to include the urban, grungy background. This will imply the damaged rock ideology. I also used a longshot as I have included the text "Dream Big", this is good as it is relevant to the story (two teenage boys make it big in the music industry)
I have used this pull quote as it is interesting and reveals an event in the artists past. This will intrigue the reader as they will hope to read about a personal event in his life. I have bordered the text in blood as it supports violent rock ideology.
Having a headline before the main article is a convention in most magazines as it gives the reader a brief description of what it is about. This allows the reader to decide whether it interests them or not. I highlighted a controversial question as it will intrigue the reader to read the article. I also put a ink splatter border around the text as it conforms to the grungy rock theme.
I included a band logo in order to enhance the verisimilitude of the magazine as it makes the band appear official. I also included a broken title to conform to violent rock ideology.
I formatted my text into columns as it is conventional for a magazine to do so and it makes it easier for the audience to read.
Overall, I have tried to follow the conventional rock colours along with the iconic damaged appearance. For example the Contents title sign appears very battered and worn out due to me rubbing parts out lightly, and adding little white dots which show that the sign is pealing.
I have included the merchandise design on my contents as it looked out of place on my cover. I feel by putting it on my contents will make it look like an extra feature to the magazine, not a main feature.
To show that "Falling Fearless" is the main story this month, I have put the singer (Will) on the front. I have faded his body along with his t-shirt into the darkness to make him appear evil, which follows the iconic rock look as many artists appear scary in the rock genre. For example, some bands wear demonic masks in order to show the rock genre (Slipknot)
I have added an editors message as most magazines include one, this gives the magazine a professional look. In the editors message, I have described what is going on in this issue.
Next to Will, I have included my own photo of Luke Rich and a Kaiser Chieves concert I have been too. These images intrigue the reader to what these articles are about, tempting them to read further. It also gives the audience an quick and easy way to see what is inside the magazine before they buy it.
I have also added a pull quote from a famous artist that can be considered controversial. This will entice the reader to buy the magazine and see what the artist is talking about and his views on it. The topic is bullying and that is a very common thing, this means many people could relate to it and perhaps buy the magazine for tips from their hero.
